- Can another year have flown by already? Before this crazy year 2006 ends, HEKLINA - Mistress of Trannyshack, has outdone herself with a diadem of new surprises - hereby making the Miss Trannyshack Pageant 2006 the most anticipated...EVER! The Pageant returns to the stately REGENCY CENTER, however we are making a big change - we will to go till 4:00 am and extend the Pageant to a throbbing after-hours dance party, where attendees can “shak“ their groove thang till the wee hours. If you’ve missed the previous 10 sold-out competitions, you won’t want to pass up your chance to witness the heavenly highs, the lumbering lows, the dizzying dazzlement, the visceral vortex and ruthless reality which are all a part of claiming the coveted Miss Trannyshack crown and sash. These gals, guys and others go all out to make this spectacle worthy of two documentary films to date.
The 2006 Pageant features celebrity performances by club legend LADY MISS KIER - lead singer of Dee Lite, and that stalwart of the downtown New York scene LADY BUNNY in performance, both which are sure to blow the roof off of The Regency Center - the home of the Pageant. The studly Men of HOTHOUSE Entertainment will be in attendance to entertain, enliven and engorge the festivities.
The contest will be held on Sat. night - November 18 – – now in its third year at the opulent Regency Center - 1300 Van Ness @ Sutter in SF. The Miss Trannyshack Pageant 2006 will be hostessed by the resplendent Trannyshack mistress of ceremonies Heklina and drag phenomenon Juanita More! More will also serve as talent coach and consultant for this year’s contestants. Judging the contestants in the categories of swimwear and most importantly “talent”, will be celebrity judges:Lady Bunny, Lady Miss Kier, Lulu (SF Drag Legend – LULU GETS A FACELIFT), Renttecca, Steven Scarborough and the men of Hothouse Entertainment.

Making her final official walk down the catwalk to (reluctantly) relinquish her tiara and to crown the 2006 Miss Trannyshack winner, will be drag sensation Coco Canal. Door diva Miss Chocolate will be at the door to relieve you of your money, and resident Trannyshack DJ Derek and guest DJ Jim Hopkins will be spinning tunes for your dancing pleasure before and after the Pageant.
Trannyshack, now in its 11th award-winning year, is San Francisco’s longest-running weekly drag and performance hotspot. Its midnight drag showcase has become the object of legend, and it serves as an important venue for up and coming local gender-bending talent, as well as visiting out-of-town drag luminaries.
HEKLINA is the hostess, producer, and creator of Trannyshack, SF’s longest-running drag performance night club, now in it’s 11th year of shocking and delighting packed audiences every Tuesday night at midnight at the STUD Bar in SF. Defying all expectations, Trannyshack incorporates everything from low brow trash to high brow performance art, and has become famous (or, infamous) worldwide as the quintessential San Francisco experience. No visit to the City is complete without a stop at Trannyshack. The club has been featured in OUT (which named it one of the top 10 reasons to move to SF), GENRE, and PAPER magazine and has won numerous Best of the Bay awards. Trannyshack has branched out its empire, with London, LA and NYC. Heklina has been seen on the E! Entertainment Network, BBC Television’s AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 RAVES, and as a guest on the Jerry Springer and Ricki Lake shows. She was voted Community Grand Marshal of the 2004 San Francisco GLBTQ Pride Parade,
LADY BUNNY, the multi-talented drag artiste, with glitzy outfits, sky-high wigs, and false eyelashes long enough to embarrass even Tammy Faye Bakker, would turn heads even if looking glamorous was her only talent. But this isn’t just another man in a dress: Lady Bunny is a successful comedienne, emcee, singer, songwriter, actress, DJ, and, most famously, the founder, organizer, and hostess of Wigstock, the outrageous festival of drag and music that delighted throngs of New Yorkers every Labor Day for nearly 20 years.
She tours with her bawdy, Dusty Springfield-meets-Don-Rickles mix of potty-mouthed humor, Southern charm, zany “Laugh-In”-style skits, and X-rated pop song parodies. Bunny has made the leap to TV and the movies, with cameo appearances in HBO's “Sex and the City”; Britney Spears' MTV special "In the Zone & Up All Night"; and the feature films Dragtime, Party Girl, and To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar. Bunny also DJs at fashion industry parties and society events around the globe; has collaborated as a singer and songwriter with the likes of Lady Miss Kier and The Ones; and is a frequent cultural commentator for magazines such as Visionaire and Interview, as well as a talking head for TV networks like E! and VH1 (look for her on the upcoming "Heroes of Bad Taste").
MISS LADY KIER is best known as the vocalist, lyricist, co-producer and floor shaker for, the mega-hit dance band, DEEE-LITE, is currently in the studio preparing her solo album - a pop and dance fusion of breakbeat, electro, jazz and funk. She and DJ Dimitry formed the group DEEE-LITE and in 1986 in NYC. Towa Tei joined the group in '91, and DEEE-LITE's first single Groove Is In The Heart, struck like lightning on dance floors. As art director, her influence was felt throughout the 90's and beyond through fashion, video and graphic design. After 3 DEEE-LITE albums and 3 world tours, the band split up in 1995 and she moved from NYC to London to start DJing and programming her own productions.
